India tops the world's IPO table in October with ₹45,500 crore raised
Indian companies raised about ₹45,500 crore ($4.8 billion) through initial public offerings in October 2026, a record month and more than twice the US total. About 40 companies listed, more than in any other market. Jio Platforms' ₹30,200 crore issue, India's largest ever, led the month, and about 113 more companies already have regulatory approval to list.

At a glance: WCRC Leaders' assessment: October confirms India as the world's most active IPO market in the second half of 2026. The month's proceeds were more than double those of the US ($2.1 billion) and three times Hong Kong's ($1.5 billion). With about $18.26 billion raised this year, 2026 is within reach of 2025's record of $22.36 billion. The pipeline, not the headline issue, is the bigger story.

What happened in October
India's IPO market spent the first half of 2026 behind other markets, where listings of AI-linked companies drew the largest flows. The second half has turned that around. The National Stock Exchange's own large offering and Jio Platforms' record issue gave October its scale, and about 40 smaller listings gave it breadth.
Demand held up even as the wider equity market weakened. Both institutional and individual investors took part in the largest issues, according to market data for the month.
Why the pipeline matters more than one issue
A single large IPO can make a month. A pipeline makes a market. About 113 companies hold regulatory approval to list and about 115 more have filed draft prospectuses. That queue suggests fundraising will continue into 2027, which matters for three groups:
- Founders and early investors get an exit route at home rather than abroad.
- Mutual funds and retail investors get a wider choice of listed Indian companies.
- The exchanges gain listing and trading income, and India's market gains depth.
The brand behind the listing
An IPO is the moment a company's brand meets the public market's judgement. Read through WCRC's MegaBrands lens, which looks at positioning and recall, consumer trust, governance and financial soundness, the companies that list well tend to be those investors already know as customers. Jio is a household name to hundreds of millions of subscribers before it is a ticker.
WCRC's Corporate Value Intelligence, the framework behind the WCRC 1000 list of India's most valuable enterprises, reads enterprise value as more than a price: governance, brand strength and the quality of growth all count. October's new listings will begin to appear in that universe as their market values settle.
In the terms of WCRC's Governance Shield model, which asks whether reputation is protected at board level, a listing raises the bar overnight. Quarterly disclosure, independent directors and public shareholders test whether a company's governance matches its brand.
The leadership view
Taking a company public is a founder's largest leadership test. On WCRC's leadership parameters, Stakeholder Trust moves to the centre: the promises made in a prospectus are now made to millions of shareholders. The Guru Management Codex model Banat-Banat Compounding is a fitting name for the discipline listed companies need: patient, steady building rather than chasing the first year's share price.
The WCRC View
October marks India's arrival as the world's busiest IPO market, and the pipeline of more than 200 companies with approval or filings in hand suggests it is not a one-month event. The test now moves from raising money to keeping investors' trust after listing. The companies that already carry strong consumer brands and clean governance are best placed to pass it.
WCRC models applied: MegaBrands; WCRC 1000 and Corporate Value Intelligence; Brand & Marketing Codex (Governance Shield); WCRC leadership parameters (Stakeholder Trust); Guru Management Codex (Banat-Banat Compounding, named only).
